Airborne Engineering — Rocket Test Facility Intern
Summer 2024 internship at Airborne Engineering, working on MethaLOX rocket engine test rigs, propellant panels and cryogenic systems.

Propulsion Mechanical Engineering Portfolio
I build turbopumps, bipropellent rocket engines, test rigs, flying and landing rockets. Have a look at what I've done!

WIP: Designed, built and tested a 20,000 RPM turbopump delivering 0.4 kg/s at 20 bar for a liquid rocket engine - my final year thesis.
Two weeks from first reading about pump design to a working 20,000 RPM electric pump hitting 9.5 bar at 0.2 kg/s.
Led the first student-built regeneratively cooled engine in the UK and first 3D printed aluminium student engine in the world. Won $30,000 at CPLC.
Technical propulsion lead for a 20-second flight, 10-second hover bipropellant rocket hopper at ICLR.
A comprehensive 6DOF flight simulator with automatic aero data generation, structural analysis and design iteration for spaceshot rockets.
Four attempts across two years to build a working N₂O/methanol torch igniter — the fifth finally crackled to life.

Leading ICLR's first pump design project. This was my introduction to turbomachinery.
A 6DOF simulator for ICLR's Hopper vehicle to test PID control against sensor noise, delays and actuator dynamics.

A dynamic node-based plumbing simulator modelling tanks, pipes, regulators and valves for a bipropellant rocket feed system.

A modular electronics platform using Raspberry Pi and ESP32s, with Python control software, Qt GUI, and an unscented Kalman filter.

Designed a 6 m, 60 kg piston-driven rocket to reach space — currently in the CAD and simulation stage.
A canard-based active control module for sounding rockets with integrated avionics.

Conceptual structural design for a Neptune orbiter — modal, buckling and vibration analysis with MMOD shielding.

Mass-optimised a linkage arm through hundreds of FEA iterations — ended up lightest in the third year cohort.

A parallelised Poisson equation solver using MPI and OpenMP for high-performance computing coursework.
